Taking Your Time…

Digital Art by C Money London

I’ve been learning how to slow down, breathe, live in the moment and take my time. So often do we have a habit to want to get from point A to point B as fast as we can we forget to enjoy the sights along the way. In this fast pace world it is important for people as individuals to create blocks of time when they can just “be”. Days like that I try to relax. I put on music without words. I look outside the window. I listen to the sounds of the neighborhood. I push away thoughts that want me to hurry up to the next task or find something “productive” to do. If you never learn to relax, how can you enjoy the present? When do you get to enjoy your “now”? When do you start being grateful about your now? If you don’t choose now to start you may look up and realize that you’ve lost years off of your life waiting around to be happy or pursuit the things that bring you joy. So yeah today you might not be where you want but today there is air in your lungs, the sun in shining somewhere, and there is some joy to be had somewhere in the world.

Before I used to feel rushed trying to complete my life’s purpose but then I realized that now never happens again. Even if all the same people try to recreate an event, it will never be the same. The conversations will never be the same. The energy will never be replicated exactly. People never stay the same. People always come and go. Sometimes going away for ever… So now I put my energy into now. Into today. Into this very moment. I put my efforts into making the best of my daily time now because it’s these micro changes in your daily life habits that will ultimately make the most difference. It’s the details in the things you are thinking and saying from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep that affect the direction your life goes . . . or does not go. So if you aren’t where you think you should be today don’t freak out because you are exactly where you are supposed to be. You are in control of all the decisions in your now that come across your path today so how will you choose to make your day? Just know that whatever directions you choose, it’s okay. Just relax and take your time. There’s no need to rush when you are always exactly where you ought to be.
